Dreary Day Doesn't Dampen The Celebrations
The Pitch Doctors Cricket Club celebrated the end of the winter season with their first annual awards presentations. Originally advertised as a concurrent AGM and Awards ceremony, due to regulations the AGM was postponed.
This simply meant the boring bits were cut out and the drinks could be started earlier as members trickled into the Royal Exchange as the rain persisted.
A series of joke awards were presented, including the Zimbabwe and Germany awards for best and worst bowling economy (there's no prizes for guessing which is which) and The Australia Award (awarded to Sachin Perera for supplying a case of VB pre-May Ball, fittingly Perera failed to show up to collect his award) as well as the more traditional awards such as the Captain/Coach's award (known as The Doctor) as well as the Morgan Medal, eponymously named after Nathan Morgan the President and Founder of the Club.
