Our History

Who are we?

The Pitch Doctors had humble beginnings in 2014, set up by two medical students, Nathan Morgan and James Matthews when they saw a lack of cricket team within the UQ medical community. Many had come before them trying to establish a team, but due to the demands of cricket and it fitting in with the med student lifestyle, it was arguably difficult to maintain a team and so none remained. This didn’t deter the two and together they managed to wrangle up a group of mates at hit the field. Nathan still recalls the difficulty of the first season, but he still persevered and as he entered fourth year decided to give it another go. With a flurry of new recruits, the Doctors competed once again, but entering a new comp and a higher grade the Doctors found themselves out of the finals. With Nathan graduating at the end of 2015, it was time for him to relinquish the daily running of the club. No one person could run the club like Nathan did and so the committee was formed and from there the club has grown in leaps and bounds as we narrowly missed out on finals in the winter and for the first time ever look to compete in the summer with a t20 competition.
