After rain wiped out the first of the two dayers, the team returned today what was now the 6th one dayer against the old foe Kuraby Lions. Severely short on numbers (a grand total of nine) the team put up a valiant effort. The game plan was to win the toss, but what is now a Doctors tradition, Rob lost the toss and with Kuraby's players running late, they lept at the opportunity to bat first, sending the doctors in to field.

Down to the third choice keeper in me, an opening bowling position was available and that was filled by KC who debuted for the doctors today. The Doctors looked to put the Lions on the back foot and we did just that with the Lions looking more like cubs at 4-45.

However, the Lions fought back and a middle order partnership helped them steady to drinks.

A reshuffle occurred at drinks and Gus Douglas put of the pads and gloves and I was sent in to bring some variety with spin, this was unsuccessful. A return of medium pace saw the dismissal of the batsmen that tonned up and from there it was smooth sailing as Sooraj and Nathan skittled the lower order. The doctors were set a target of 220 to win, a feat akin to the last time these two teams met, although the odds were stacked against them this time.

Having the pads on in the field must have helped Gus get his eye in because he came out on fire hitting shots to all parts of the field, however the team wasn't able to support him as quick wickets meant we were 3 for not very many. Out came Captain Corrigan and with Gus, the two built a solid partnership that I still feel is quite dubious, but nonetheless, the doctors were left reeling with the last ball of drinks. Muqi and Nathan had a wack and T Pham got his first run for the Doctors ending the innings on not out as the Doctors crumbled to 99 all out.
